Mzuzu City, Machinga Likwenu in JBF tourney finals
Mzuzu City and Machinga Likwenu constituencies qualified for the national finals of the K100 million (US$242 718) Joyce Banda Foundation (JBF) Inter-Constituency Tournament and are scheduled to meet in the finals this weekend at a venue yet to be determined.
According to the tournament’s coordinator, Wyson Sumaili, to qualify for the finals, Mzuzu City beat Nkhotakota South 11-10 on post-match penalties after tying 2-all in regulation time at Chibavi ground in Mzuzu. Machinga Likwenu edged Blantyre North East 1-0 in Domasi, Zomba.
In netball, Mzimba North West will face Blantyre North East.
To qualify for the finals, Mzimba North East beat Nkhotakota North 49-18 whereas Blantyre North East beat Machinga Central East 38-6.
Sumaili said the organising committee was expected to meet yesterday to determine the date and venue for the finals.
